CAREER
Steven qualified as a solicitor in 1979. In 1996 having previously run his own practice he joined forces with Stephen Crossick to form Porter Crossick where he remained joint senior partner before the creation of Jaffe Porter Crossick LLP of which he is a founder member.
Steven is also a CEDR Accredited Mediator and able to assist parties in resolving disputes cost effectively.
SUMARRY OF WORK
Steven qualified ostensibly as a litigator and therefore has the advantage of understanding both the contentious and non-contentious aspects of commercial property law. He is comfortable dealing with all aspects of landlord and tenant matters and is not phased where property transactions become contentious. For many years he has dealt primarily with commercial property whilst still retaining an interest in property litigation and in particular dilapidation disputes and Landlord & Tenant matters.
He has over 30 years experience and during that time has dealt with a variety of businesses most notably restaurants, shops, light and heavy industry.
In addition Steven has also developed a specialism in Housing Association Law and has drafted the standard documentation used by a number of large high profile registered social Landlords particularly in the areas of development and leasing.
Steven heads our Property Department.
SKILLS AND APPROACH
Steven is calm and approachable and patient when dealing with transactions and mediation. He will adopt a pragmatic approach and adapt to the needs and requirements of each client or party. Steven takes a holistic view of clients and their businesses.
His 30 years of experience has gained him a wealth of knowledge in dealing with disputes relating to the following aspects of property law:
- Dilapidations
- Adverse Possession
- Boundary Disputes
- Easements
- Contractual Disputes
- Lease Interpretation
- Landlord and Tenant, both Commercial and Residential
Steven’s approach to mediation is to help parties find a solution and the challenge is to achieve this even where there appear to be insurmountable differences. He has been described as calm with a patient approach which allows parties to express their feelings as well as allowing them time to come to a satisfactory conclusion.
